FAQs

What is self-fill/Merchant-fill?

Hanco pioneered merchant-fill in the United Kingdom, where the merchant uses their own cash to fill the cash machine. You only need to put in as much as you need for a single day's transactions. The amount withdrawn by your customer is then transferred to your nominated business bank account, saving you trips to the bank.

How does it benefit me?

A cash machine adds a convenient service to your customer base that allows customers to access their own cash which they may spend on your premises, thus increasing your potential sales and profits.

Are they a security risk?

The retailer is advised to transfer the cash from the cash machine into their business safe overnight and leave the machine door open so it publicly shows it isn't a target. Because you only put in as much cash as you need, the amounts in the machine are very small compared to a fully managed, through-the-wall style machine. The strong-box housing the cash cassette is classified as a day safe and because you are taking less cash to the bank, this may improve security.

Will the cash machine take up much room?

Not at all, its footprint is around 3ft square. If your premises are suitable, it could become the most lucrative 3ft square in your business.

How long does it take to get one?

Once a suitable power supply and BT line have been installed and appropriate paperwork completed, the machine is usually in place within 2 weeks.
