Convenience Store, Whitminster

When Kevin Parcel took over his local village convenience store in January, he also inherited a Hanco cash machine.

Kevin runs Whitminster Stores, Whitminster near Gloucester and is overjoyed with his machine.

He said: “It is an excellent banking tool as I can recycle my cash in the store without having to make trips to the bank. This is not only a security benefit but also significantly reduces my banking charges.”

The store is situated in a remote village and provides the only access to cash for miles around to local people and visitors. Kevin added: “We are a convenience store and part of our success is offering a wide range of convenient services from post office to groceries and from alcohol to cash. Although my customers don’t like paying a fee to withdraw their cash, I get far more complaints on the odd occasions the machine isn’t operating.

“Around 85% of people who withdraw money in my shop also spend a significant amount over the till as well. And I have around 900 customers a day coming through my doors and probably an average 100 will use the cash machine facility. So it doesn’t take a genius to realise that having a cash machine helps boost profits as well. I would never be without it!”
