Five years ago Stuart Swann had the foresight to see the benefits that installing a cash machine would have on his business.
Today, Stuart, who runs a Spa in Hindley near Wigan, is still as enthusiastic as ever about his Hanco machine, which averages 1,200 transactions a month.
He said: “People come to my shop for convenience and are willing to pay a small fee of £1.25 to withdraw their cash rather than trek down to the banks just over a mile away. They also like the safe environment my shop provides for withdrawing cash rather than queuing outside a hole in the wall on the high street.”
Stuart is also delighted with the additional revenue streams created by having a cash machine.
“A significant number of my customers also spend their cash in my store, so not only do I generate income from the transactions but also from additional sales.
“My banking charges are reduced because I recycle my notes through the cash dispenser. However, I do find that popularity for my machine has grown to such a degree that I have to make two to three visits to the bank each month to keep my machine topped up with notes, but the positives heavily outweigh the negatives.”
